Wizard World's Austin Comic Con is taking place this year from October 2-4. As always, this event will include a long list of media and comic book related guests such as Sean Astin from "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy," Michael Rooker from “Guardians of the Galaxy” and "The Walking Dead," and Eisner Award Hall of Famer Neal Adams.
Whether you are planning to attend Wizard World as a pirate, superhero or Sci-Fi character, you will be able to participate in various events with other people who have created their own costumes. The list of notable cosplayers and fan communities that will be in attendance has not yet been announced, but there are always several meet-ups, photo shoots and other opportunities that make Wizard World a fun convention for cosplay enthusiasts.
Wizard World has a long-standing tradition of offering a great variety of programming options. The Austin show's schedule has not yet been revealed, but previous Wizard World conventions have included a film festival, Sci-Fi speed dating, tips from comic book artists, a game night, celebrity meet and greets, in-depth discussions about specific fandoms and cosplaying panels that teach people how to construct eye-catching and realistic looking costumes. The Austin programming schedule should be announced at least a week before the show begins.
The Vendor Room
Perhaps one of the most intriguing things about Wizard World for pirate and armory enthusiasts is the fact that many of the vendors that will be in attendance will have fun new items on display. It is common to run into everything from chainmail armor to humorous pirate bandages on the showroom floor, so do not be surprised if you end up spending a lot of time checking out this portion of the convention.
Other Aspects of the Wizard World Experience
As previously mentioned, there will be many celebrities and artists in attendance. The vast majority of these guests offer autographs and photo ops, and it is also possible to commission a sketch from many of the artists. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to purchase convention exclusives such as the exclusive lithograph of "Raisers" by CAFU.
